Highlights of the 2011 Show:
  • Debut of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner in the Middle East
     
  • International debut of the Al Fursan Aerobatic team from the UAE, flying Aermacchis.
     
  • Debut of the Bell/Boeing V-22 Osprey in the Middle East
     
  • International debut of the MA-600 from Xian Aircraft Industries in China, the first time it has been seen outside China
     
  • Launch of the Bombardier C-Series cabin mock-up
     
  • The show was jointly opened by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai & HRH King Juan Carlos of Spain.
     
  • The 2011 Dubai Airshow commemorated the 40th anniversary of the founding of the UAE.
     
  • Futures Day was launched on the last day of the show to help build the next generation of aviators.
     
  • GATE – the Gulf Aviation Training Event took place on 14-15 November addressing the key issues facing the Middle East in selecting and training pillots for the new generation of aircraft orders.
