BRIGHT STARS TO TALK SPACE AT DUBAI AIRSHOW

Astronauts, Space Agencies and Industry to Speak at Free-to-Attend Events 

 
The Space Pavilion at the Dubai Airshow 2019 is bringing the space industry’s biggest names to speak at two free-to-attend conferences. Women in Space and Tech Talks, hosted by the UAE Space Agency, will discuss the evolution of the global space sector. 
 
Over 40 influential speakers will share insights during two days of content, including H.E Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of State for Higher Education and Advanced Skills, Chairman, UAE Space Agency, Simonetta Di Pippo, Director, United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs; Jean-Yves Le Gall, President, Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales (CNES) and Leanne Caret, CEO Defence, Space & Security, Boeing.
 
Taking place on the second day of the Dubai Airshow, Monday 18 November 2019, Women in Space will feature some of the most prominent female leaders in the industry. 
 
Panels include discussions on driving space sustainability through enhancing gender diversity and exploring space sustainable development goals.  Other sessions will focus on education and the role of STEM in space, capacity building for industry creation; unlocking value from space technology and going beyond big data with earth observation.
 
Women in Space also includes an Astronaut Fireside Chat, where Claudie Haigneré, Former Astronaut, Centre National d'Études Spatiales and the European Space Agency will be interviewed by Robert Lightfoot, Vice President of Strategy & Business Development, Lockheed Martin and former Acting Administrator, NASA. 
 
The Tech Talks will take place on day three of the Dubai Airshow, Tuesday 19 November, with speakers focusing on global collaboration for space exploration from international space agencies; including Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), Glavkosmos, Saudi Space Commission and the UK Space Agency. 
 
Pierre Delsaux, Deputy Director General, European Commission Directorate General will explore GNSS capabilities at the conference. There will also be an update on the Arab 2030 space activities during a panel discussion with 6 of the regional Arab space leaders; UAE, Jordan, Bahrain, Lebanon, Mauretania and Oman.
 
One of only 24 people to have flown to the moon, Apollo 15 Command Module Pilot Col. Al Worden, USAF-Ret, will give a talk on the lessons of Apollo 12 - Launchpad to the moon, mars and beyond.
 
Both Women in Space and Tech Talks are free to attend for trade visitors to the Dubai Airshow 2019, located on the Mezzanine Level, Conference Room 2.
