In his capacity as the Executive Director of the Tawazun Economic Program at Tawazun Council for Defence Enablement, Majed Al Shamsi leads a team of professionals dedicated to enabling the defense and security industries in the UAE, while contributing to the economic development, promoting national local contents and accelerating the indigenization of the defense industry and technology. Al Shamsi’s position also entails managing multiple mega projects of strategic importance, identifying industry needs and overseeing relations with key strategic partners, international partners and other stakeholders. His journey has been marked by his tenure as a Senior Manager for operations research at the Council, where he was responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and leading strategic research and market analysis initiatives. Majed Al Shamsi has over 25 years of experience in the defense industry and has played a key role in the development of numerous successful projects contributing significantly to economic and industrial growth. He started his career in the UAE Navy in 1998. Since 2012 and prior to joining Tawazun Council in 2018, he served as a Senior Executive in several military, government and corporate entities. In these positions, he assumed numerous responsibilities, including those of Head of Commercial and Program Account Manager for Al Tariq (formerly, Tawazun Dynamics), Caracal International, EPI (formerly, Tawazun Precision Industries), Department of Transport – Abu Dhabi, Dubai Maritime City and the UAE Navy. Majed has an LLM in International Business Law from Panthéon-Assas University Paris II, as well as an MBA in Manufacturing Excellence from UAE University. He also has a Bachelor of Naval Science from the Pakistan Naval Academy
