EXECUTIVE INTERVIEW

Yahya AlGhoraibi,
CEO of The Helicopter Company

Why have you decided to exhibit at the Dubai Airshow this year?

By participating in Dubai Airshow we expect a series of returns. Namely, increased brand exposure, strong entry into our target market and the development of relationships with contacts in the industry. We also expect to identify other players that offer comparable services in the region in order to seek out new opportunities. Our participation in this year’s show also recognizes our position in the Saudi rotorcraft sector and opens up the prospects of us extending our services to the bigger regional market.

The Middle East provides our company with many valuable opportunities to serve its residents and guests. By tailoring our services to the needs and prospects of the region, we will be able to experience high returns and expansion in services.  The region provides unique experiences and expectations that can be supported through our amenities such as luxury transportation and medical services.

What products are you promoting at this year’s Dubai Airshow?

We are introducing our latest Rotorcrafts provided for VIP transportation within the Kingdom, which boasts spacious and luxurious cabins.

We are the first commercial helicopter operator in the Kingdom. We have tapped a distinctive market and designed specialized services to make helicopter rides more accessible.

How would you describe the aerospace market in the Middle East?

The rotorcraft sector in the whole region is anticipated to grow as demand on helicopter transportation services is on the rise. Areas of Hajj and Umrah, pilgrimage, scenic tourism, medical transportation and VIP services are expected to fuel the demand on commercial helicopter rides.

A major segment in the helicopter market of Saudi Arabia are Hajj and Umrah transportation, which has a strong demand for helicopters during its peak seasons. Market growth is also anticipated with the development of several giga projects such as NEOM, Al Ulla, the Red Sea Development, Amaala and Qiddiya, which will push the demand for transportation and tourism services. The VIP transportation sector is also witnessing a strong demand from Senior Government officials, HNWIs and major corporations.

What do you consider the biggest challenges facing the aerospace industry in the Middle East?

The Middle East’s aerospace industry is a growing market offering a lot of opportunities. The biggest challenges would be to keep up with the accelerating growth in this industry by ensuring that we remain innovative and that our services are always in line with the latest market trends. Fortunately, these challenges make room for a multitude of investment opportunities and partnerships for local and foreign partners. This event is a perfect opportunity for talks about such partnerships.

What makes the Middle East an important market for your business?

Saudi Arabia is undertaking a major development in the form of giga-projects that will transform the tourism industry in the country and the whole region. Such developments will drive up demand on luxury services across all areas of guests’ experience. In parallel, and due to the major revamp the entertainment industry has witnessed, we anticipate a surge in demand for transportation services from airports to hotels or to remote event locations. As a company specialized in offering domestic services, it is important for us to capture existing opportunities through agreements with government entities and other major agencies involved.
