Director of Technology
Gokul has an educational background in robotics (unmanned aerial systems) and artificial intelligence from University of Texas. After graduating from UT, he gained field experience with UAVs (commercial, tactical & defense), sensor systems, & ground systems working on DoD projects implementing concepts related to autonomous unmanned airborne systems. After moving to Finland in 2017, he co-founded a company that did autonomous drone deliveries. Following that, he was listed as one of the top 5 founders in Finland in 2019 (Nordic Startup Awards). Since 2017, Gokul has contributed to 4 patents (2 in the US, 2 in Finland) involving AI, drones, and defense/commercial applications. Currently, Gokul is the Director of Technology for Robots Expert Finland Oy and is involved in multiple Urban Air Mobility projects and 5G! Drones Project. Gokul’s area of expertise covers artificial intelligence, UAVs, 5G, UAM & UTM

18 November 2021 | 12:40 - 13:40 | What 5G will mean for the future drone operations
5G promises to transform drone operations by adding new levels of IoT connectivity – leading to more robust command and control, safer airspace management and huge increases in the amount payload data downloads. A recent study published by the GSMA highlights a minimum of eight different use cases in which drone operators would benefit from connectivity and end-to-end service provision. When and where will these first appear?
