His Excellency Abdullah Al Shamsi is the Assistant Undersecretary for the Industrial Development Sector at the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology. Through his current position, he leads a array of programs, policies and initiatives that enable and stimulate the growth of the national industrial sector and local content, and enhance their contribution to the economic system of the UAE. 

 

Prior to joining the Ministry team, Al Shamsi held several important positions in a number of major national entities in the UAE, including Senior Vice President of Exploration Projects at the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), and Director of Investment Deals, Mergers and Acquisitions in the oil and gas sector at Mubadala Investment Company. 

 

Al Shamsi started his professional career in the Shell company, where he held a range of technical positions in the fields of engineering and economic analysis, based in various international locations, including the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the Sultanate of Oman. 

 

During his career, Al Shamsi has realized many achievements, from helping to establish the Mohammed Bin Zayed University for Artificial Intelligence, to concluding a set of investment deals with strategic partners in Russia, and developing strategies and implementing several projects with Shell in the fields of oil derivatives and the petrochemical industry. 

 

Al Shamsi holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration and Economics from Columbia University in New York, and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from McMaster University in Canada.
