Dubai receives first batch of Pfizer-BioNTech's Covid-19 vaccines transported from Brussels on an Emirates SkyCargo flight for a free vaccine drive that will start today.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (Mohap) on Tuesday evening announced the emergency registration of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

The shipment of the Pfizer vaccine was offloaded and cleared on priority basis on arrival at Emirates’ dedicated SkyPharma facility.

Pfizer vaccine is the second voluntary vaccine rollout in the country after the UAE began administering China’s Sinopharm vaccine to citizens and residents from December 9.

For long-term storage Pfizer vaccine has to be kept at -70°C, which requires special cooling equipment.

The UAE is well-prepared for storage and other facilities of the vaccine.
