Shannon Scott is Senior Manager Environment Affairs at Emirates airline, where he leads the development and implementation of the company’s environmental sustainability programme. He is currently chair of the International Air Transport Association’s Sustainability and Environment Advisory Council, and has participated in the International Civil Aviation Organization Global Market-Based Measure Task Force developing the monitoring, reporting and verification procedures for the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA). 
 
Before joining Emirates in 2013, he was a Senior Policy Advisor at the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand, working on environmental and air navigation policy. In this role, he represented New Zealand as Observer on the ICAO Committee on Aviation Environmental Protection, where he coordinated the drafting of an ICAO Manual on Operational Initiatives to Reduce Fuel Burn and Emissions. Prior to that, he led the New Zealand Ministry of Research, Science and Technology’s international cooperation programmes with North Asia.
