Bio

Maran Paramanathan is a distinguished figure in Singapore's aviation sector, currently serving as the Director of Unmanned Systems Policy, Regulations and Operations at the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS).

Maran's journey in aviation began with a 26-year tenure in the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF). During this time, he honed his skills as an air traffic controller and developed expertise in airspace management and policy development, laying the foundation for his future roles in civil aviation. 

He continued his aviation journey in CAAS from 2017, and he currently specializes in the development of policies and regulations related to the safe integration of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and emerging technologies such as electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOLs). He is also responsible for the command and control of counter-UAS operations to ensure safe airport operations in Singapore.

Maran is currently driving the development of polices and operational requirements for the unmanned aircraft traffic management system (UTM) to facilitate safe UAS operations within dense urban landscape of Singapore. He is also leading the development of regulatory framework for advanced air mobility (AAM) in Singapore. Maran also represents Singapore in ICAO’s Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems Panel.

Throughout his career, Maran has demonstrated a commitment to advancing aviation safety while driving innovation.
