Meet Ammar Kassim, the young and dynamic Executive Director of FitsAir spearheading its International Passenger Services. As FitsAir proudly stands as Sri Lanka’s first privately owned international airline and the country’s only Low Cost Carrier with big aspirations, Ammar embodies the spirit of innovation and ambition in the aviation industry.
Ammar has been a driving force behind FitsAir’s aviation journey since 2014, infusing his youthful energy and fresh perspective into every aspect of its development. It was under his leadership that FitsAir made history in October, 2022, when it launched International Passenger Services, connecting Colombo to Dubai and the Maldives.
With a passion for aviation, Ammar has led negotiations for aircraft acquisitions and lease agreements as well as fostering strategic alliances with industry giants such as Cessna Corporation and Aercap. He has masterfully orchestrated a wide range of charter programs for FitsAir across Asia and the Middle East, adeptly navigating the intricacies of aircraft lease contracts and financing negotiations.
Fueled by ambition, Ammar ensures that FitsAir passengers embark on unforgettable journeys, with a fleet of three narrow-body jets designed to redefine travel experiences.
Under Ammar's forward-thinking leadership, FitsAir achieved a remarkable feat in under a year of operation—being named 'Asia's Most Timely Airline' by Cirium. This recognition underscores his ability to chart new horizons and set industry standards.
Ammar's insights and leadership have also earned him invitations to speak at major international aviation forums. He was a featured speaker at the Indian Aviation Summit 2024, where he addressed the future of low-cost carriers in South Asia, and also participated in the 2023 Dubai Air Show, sharing FitsAir’s growth story and strategic outlook in a competitive global market.
Beyond FitsAir, Ammar is a Director at Aberdeen Holdings, the company that stands as the backbone of FitsAir's success story.
Ammar's educational qualifications are equally noteworthy as his career. He holds a BSc in Economics and an MSc in Management Information Systems from New York University. Additionally, he has honed his leadership skills at the prestigious Stanford Graduate School of Business in Palo Alto.
But behind the business acumen and aviation milestones, Ammar is a true trailblazer carving out a new flight path for the aviation industry in Sri Lanka.
