Ibrahim AlQasim has been at the forefront of the UAE's space exploration and advanced sciences landscape for over a decade. In his current role as the Deputy Director General of the UAE Space Agency since 2021, he assists in shaping the nation's space policies and strategic plans. With a firm commitment to advancing the UAE's space endeavors, he oversees and ensures the success of various space projects, all in alignment with the country's ambitious space strategy. Ibrahim AlQasim’s journey began within the UAE's dynamic space sector, where he held pivotal positions at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre. He was instrumental as the Head of the Strategic Research section and later took charge as the Project Manager for the historic "Nayif-1," the UAE's first nanometric satellite. His dedication and capabilities led him to become the Deputy Project Manager for the strategic planning of the Emirates Mars Mission. After a successful career spanning eight years in the UAE's space sector, AlQasim transitioned to the Office of Advanced Sciences, where he served as the Acting Executive Director. In this role, he played a central role in shaping the national agenda for advanced sciences and spearheaded transformative programs like the Open Labs Platform, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Academy of Scientists, and various prestigious scientific awards. In 2019, AlQasim undertook a new challenge as the Director of Future Department at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and the Future. His responsibilities extended to building foresight capabilities for federal government entities, providing advisory to the Cabinet on future challenges, and identifying opportunities that would shape the UAE's trajectory. Educated in Canada and the United Arab Emirates, AlQasim possesses a rich and diverse background, Over the past two years, he has led the UAE’s delegation to UN COPOUS on multiple occasions. He also leads the UAE Space Agency’s strategic partnerships internationally. Ibrahim AlQasim's career is a testament to his unwavering commitment to advancing the UAE's space exploration and sciences on a global scale. He is a pivotal figure in launching the Abu Dhabi Space Debate which advocates globally for space sustainability, security, accessibility and economy. His journey and achievements continue to inspire and guide the nation's path towards a brighter, more innovative future.
