Aqeel Ahmed Al Zarouni

Eng. Aqeel Al Zarooni is the Assistant Director General for Aviation Safety Affairs at the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority. He plays a key role in advancing the country’s aviation safety framework and is a member of the UAE’s Environment and Climate Change Committee for aviation. He led the integration of Advanced Air Mobility into national regulations and has held senior roles across airworthiness, licensing, and policy. Aqeel began his career with Emirates Airlines in 1992 and earned his Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License in 1996. From 2007 to 2010, he served as Engineering Manager for Emirates’ regional outstations. He is a graduate of the UAE Government's Future Leadership Program and holds a Master’s in Aviation Management from Coventry University in the UK. Eng. Aqeel’s leadership reflects a strong commitment to innovation, regulatory excellence, and sustainable aviation development.
