Captain Thomas Duell is an experienced airline pilot and safety leader with over 35 years in commercial aviation. He currently serves as Vice President Flight Safety and Postholder Safety Management System, where he leads the development and oversight of the Safety Management System at group level.
He joined Emirates in 2007, flying the Boeing 777 in worldwide operations, following his earlier career with Austrian Airlines. In addition to his line flying, he has held extensive roles in training and examining.
Thomas’s main professional focus has been in the field of safety and investigations, with more than 25 years of experience in safety management. He has led major safety investigations, worked closely with regulators and international bodies, and contributed to advancing safety practices across the industry.
